Family pics in the snow

This past Sunday was such a great day! My entire family was together once again and that hasn't happened for a while( well, Chelsea was home for Bryce's Wedding but it was such a crazy fun time that we really didn't get to spend time together as a family) so we picked Chels up from the airport on Saturday, got to visit and get her all settled in and then Sunday we had a family get together. Kody and the rest of the fam went to Tommy's homecoming and I had to go to YW to get ready for a Christmas Program at the nursing home, then after everyone came home, we had already talked about taking a family picture on this day since i knew everyone would be home, well as you all know (who live in Utah) we had some pretty major snow on Saturday, and Sunday afternoon it started back up again but since it was already planned and everyone was planning to be here I decided we should still just brave the storm!! Well it ended up being a pretty fun time and we got a few good pictures, i have said this before and will say it again-- It is really hard to be the one taking pictures of your own family- there were more blurry than not but we did get a few good shots and i will post them in just a minute. We came back home(warmed up) and had a great turkey dinner!! I am so thankful for my family and think lots of times I get so busy with everyday life that I don't take the time to remind myself and all of them how lucky I am!!!

ok so i havent been very good at blogging, i admit it!!! We have had so many things going on this summer and quite honestly we just haven't really even been home for me to worry about keeping my blog up to date. i"ve just randomly posted some pictures and they probably aren"t neccesarily in the order of events. We started out this summer with our trip to St George and Mesquite, this year only paige and wyatt were able to come with us but this is something we have been doing every year since Kody and I got married, we love to go and just hang by the pools and swim, we have many memories as a family of these fun trips. Then in June Bryce came home from his mission!! we are so happy to have him home, he is working concrete and registerd for classes at weber this fall. Wyatt plays on a traveling baseball team so we spent three day weekends all july traveling to those events, i never thought i would enjoy baseball but those boys are so great and fun to watch it's quite entertaining. Then we went on our annual Ennis MT fishing trip, this also is a tradition we have in our family, we usually spend 7 days camping fishing, floating the river and just having fun. Our whole family was able to come at different time this year which was great!!! Then the first of August Kody and I loaded Chelsea and all of her belongings in our truck and her car and drove her to Council Bluffs Iowa where she is playing soccer for the college there IWCC. It was one of the hardest things ive had to do as a mom leaving her 1200 miles away from home!!! it will be a great experience for her to play soccer on a college level but right now she is not liking being so far away from home. We have spent fun days with family at reunions and hangin out at the cabin this summer also, i wish i could rewind the summer and start over but alas one more is almost coming to a close.

If you were born....

If you were born between 1939-1979
I just got this email i've actually gotten it a few times but this time thought i would post it on my blog so that i could go back and reread it occasionally. I hope when you read it you have a smile on your face like i did--
It makes me think of the good ole days! don't get me wrong, I love our modern technology and know that probably two of my four kids would not be here today without it, but i often wonder if the kids of today (mine included) are missing out on what life has to offer, or had to offer because i know the world is a different place today and some of these things we would never let our kids do. So....TO ALL THE KIDS WHO SURVIVED the 1930's, 40's, 50's, 60's and 70's!!
First, we survived being born to mothers who smoked and/or drank while they were pregnant. they took aspirin, ate blue cheese dressing, tuna from a can and didn't get tested for diabetes.

Then after that trauma, we were put to sleep on our tummies in baby cribs covered with bright colored lead-based paints.
We had no childproof lids on medicine bottles, doors or cabinets and when we rode our bikes, we had no helmets, not to mention the risks we took hitchhiking.
As infants & children, we would ride in cars with no car seats, booster seats, seat belts or air bags.
Riding in the back of a pick up on a warm day was always a special treat.
We drank water from the garden hose and NOT from a bottle. We shared one soft drink with four friends, from one bottle and NO ONE actually died from this.
We ate cupcakes, white bread and real butter and drank Kool-aid made with sugar, but we weren't overweight because, WE WERE ALWAYS OUTSIDE PLAYING!
We would leave home in the morning and play all day, as long as we were back when the street lights came on. No one was able to reach us all day. And we were OK.
We would spend hours building our go-carts out of scraps and then ride down the hill, only to find out we forgot the brakes. After running into the bushes a few times, we learned to solve the problem.
We did not have Playstations, Nintendo's, X-boxes, no video games at all, no 150 channels on cable, no video movies or DVD's, no surround-sound or CD's, no cell phones, no personal computers, no Internet or chat rooms.......
WE HAD FRIENDS and we went outside and found them!
We fell out of trees, got cut, broke bones and teeth and there were no lawsuits from these accidents.
We ate worms and mud pies made from dirt, and the worms did not live in us forever.
We were given BB guns for our 10th birthdays, made up games with sticks and tennis balls and, although we were told it would happen, we did not poke out very many eyes.
We rode bikes or walked to a friend's house and knocked on the door or rang the bell, or just walked in and talked to them!
Little League had tryouts and not everyone made the team. Those who didn't had to learn to deal with disappointment. Imagine that!!
The idea of a parent bailing us out if we broke the law was unheard of. They actually sided with the law!
These generations have produced some of the best risk-takers, problem solvers and inventors ever!
The past 50 years have been an explosion of innovation and new ideas.
We had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and we learned HOW TO DEAL WITH IT ALL!
Kind of makes you want to run through the house with scissors, doesn't it?!

'With hurricanes, tornados, fires out of control, mud slides, flooding, severe thunderstorms tearing up the country from one end to another and with the threat of bird flu and terrorist attacks, are we sure this is a good time to take God out of the Pledge of Allegiance?'
-Jay Leno-

I could say alot about this and recognize many of these as things I did and my parents did. But when I read this I just think of how kids use to just be KIDS!!!! We give them so much modern technology, but along with that we give them much more resposibility to have to deal with at a younger age. I really hope my kids will look back on their life and feel like they had an amazing childhood and that as a parent I was able to just let them be a kid and enjoy that time in their lives!!!!

okay so doesn't my new background just make you want to hop a plane and fly to hawaii!!! I am trying really hard to figure out a way to make it to Hawaii again really soon!! I love that place!! I am so happy we have had a few nice days and it makes me excited for summer!!! nothing like the beach, a good book and a summer tan!!!!

My two boys!!!

ok, so obviously this picture is two years old since Bryce will be home soon, but i found it when i was going thru some of my pics and really wanted to post it!!! i cannot believe i have one who left on a mission and another that was 6 at the time!!! we dropped Bryce off at the MTC and kept heading south because we were on our way to summergames in cedarcity with Chelseas soccer team, Wyatt was such a trooper that morning, the whole rest of the family were bawling like babies and he did not cry once while we were with Bryce, but... we got in the car and he started sobbing his heart out-- he cried himself to sleep!!! I don't think he realized how much easier he made it for Bryce that he didn't cry, and i still have not told Bryce about what happened once we got in the car because it would have made him sad, he and Wyatt were such buddies before he left, i am anxious to see them together once Bryce gets home!!! It makes my heart happy to see this picture so i thought i would share!!!

Spring is finally here( i think!)

love love these girls!!!

I miss seeing those kids so much!!! Here are some pics of some of the stuff we have had going on. I am gonna say it again and I know I say it alot, but I love my life, my husband, my kids, all their activites and things that keep us all going!!! Life is Good!!
